I’m Martha, the maker behind Patchwork Tails. I create handmade accessories for dogs and cats that are designed to add a little personality, comfort, and fun to the lives of the pets we love.
But Patchwork Tails began with something much bigger than fabric and thread.
A Lifelong Love for Animals
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a soft spot for animals—especially the ones who don’t have anyone else looking out for them.
Even as a little girl, I found myself rescuing and caring for stray animals. That love never went away. Over the years, I’ve continued feeding, helping, and caring for strays whenever I could.
Every animal has a story, and every one deserves to know kindness.
One little kitten in particular changed the way I thought about what I wanted Patchwork Tails to become.
The Story of Nugget
Nugget was a tiny orange tabby kitten we found when she was already very sick.
We tried to help her, but sadly, Nugget passed away.
Losing her was heartbreaking.
It also left me thinking about how different things might be for stray animals if help were available sooner—before an illness or injury becomes too serious.
Nugget became part of the reason behind the mission of Patchwork Tails.
I can’t save every stray animal. But I can do something.
More Than a Pet Accessory Shop
Patchwork Tails allows me to combine two things I care deeply about: sewing and helping animals.
The money I earn through Patchwork Tails helps me provide food, supplies, and veterinary care for the stray animals I care for. My hope is that as this little business grows, so will my ability to help animals who otherwise might not receive the care they need.
Every bandana, accessory, and future Patchwork Tails creation is made with that purpose in mind.
So when you purchase something for your own beloved pet, you’re also supporting a small business with a heart for animals who haven’t found their forever homes yet.

Nugget didn’t get the ending I wanted for her, but her short life continues to inspire something good.
Every time Patchwork Tails helps provide a meal, supplies, or veterinary care for another animal, a little piece of Nugget’s story lives on.
